Clayton Lomax “Max” Thomley

Clayton Lomax "Max" Thomley, a resident of Pinckard, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at a local hospital. He was 88 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to services.

Max was born on September 25, 1932, in Wicksburg, Alabama to the late Harmon and Thelma Thomley. He was a hard worker and was employed with Clark's Cabinet Shop in Dothan for more than 40 years, he would later work with Midway Millwork. Max spent a total of 50 years in the industry before retiring and devoting his time and heart into being with his family. He was a devoted Christian man, attending Pinckard Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where he was a Sunday School Teacher and proudly served as Deacon. Besides being with his family, Max enjoyed fishing and the outdoors in his spare time.

Max was preceded in death by his 4 siblings, Natchael Thomley, Mary Ann Enfinger, Merlon Thomley, and Peggy Moseley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Yvonne Thomley; his 3 children, Sherrie (Ray) Smith, Preston (Diane) Thomley, and Revonda (Danny) Phillips; his 4 grandchildren, Edward (Carolyn) Smith, Benjamin Thomley, Joseph (Amanda) Thomley, and Allison Phillips; his 4 great grandchildren, Houston (Kayley) Smith, Haisten Smith, Dawson Thomley, and Savannah Thomley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Edward Smith, Benjamin Thomley, Joseph Thomley, Houston Smith, Haisten Smith, and Danny Enfinger.

Burial Date May 28, 2021 Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to services.
