Cleoties Ash

Rev. Cloeties Ash, 80, as resident of Syracuse, NY passed away Nov 11, 2014.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Ash was born in Dale County Alabama on February 29, 1934 to Ned and Easter Ash. While attending school he drove the school bus to take other children to school. After graduating from Ashford High, he moved to Poplar Florida for a short period of time; where he was employed for Avis Rental Car as a courtesy driver. He later moved to Syracuse following his dream becoming a professional basketball player. He worked and retired from Oberdorfer Foundry.  He was an active and devoted member of Living Water C.O.G.I.C. since 1973 under the direction of Pastor Nebraski Carter.

Elder Ash answered his call to ministry in 1976 under the jurisdiction of Bishop Leroy Anderson. He received his ordination in 1979. As a dedicated, faithful member and servant for the Lord he served as Superintendent of Sunday School, 6am Prayer worshiper, Bible band, YPWW, Van Driver, Cook, Maintenance; wherever he could be used he was always ready and willing to work for the kingdom of God. Elder Ash enjoyed reading his bible, watching sports, cooking bbq, traveling and assisting others. His amazing and selfless personality drew people to him for prayer and advice. He received several awards and recognition for his outstanding dedication and support of others. In 2010, the Tenants Association awarded him for his outstanding volunteer work.

Elder Ash was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Easter Ash; four sisters, Lucille Ash-Tendle, Molly Ash-Tendle, Amanda Ash-Harris and Climmie Ash. Four brothers; John Henry Ash, Ned Otis Ash, Elmer Ash and Bill Ash. Elder Ash leaves to cherish his memory a wife Jane Ash, his beloved children, Willie Tonia Thornton and Shalanda Graham-Howard Shannon both of Syracuse; three sisters, Minnie Pearl Ash, Ella Ash-Grayson Napoleon both of Alabama, Ora Ash of Florida. A sister in law, Helen Ash of Alabama, nine grandchildren, Richard and Willie Walker Jr. of Syracuse. Daryl Walker Kelli of Texas, Wanda Walker of Albany, Kenji Graham, Ariel Bryant, Aaliyah and Elijah Thornton, and Alanna Howard of Syracuse. Special Nephews, Tony Millsap Connie of Texas, Eddie Ash Alisha of Alabama; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
