Clinton Warren Joyner

March 15, 1936 — June 20, 2014

Clinton "Clint" Warren Joyner, Sr., 78, of Ozark passed away on Friday June 20, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Bro Jim Hill and Rev. Harry Circle officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Joyner was born March 15, 1936 in Snowhill, North Carolina to the late Charlie Exum and Sadie C. Joyner. He was a two tour Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Army for 18 years. Honorably discharged in 1973, Mr. Joyner was awarded the Bronze Star Medal 3 times during his military career. Following his service time he was employed with the test board at Cairns Field for 15 years and another 9 years as a civilian contractor retiring in 2009. Clint enjoyed farming, being outside and spending time with his family. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist church in Ozark, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son Clinton W. Joyner, Jr., and his siblings, Gladys, Mamie Ruth, Bud, and J.B. Joyner.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Sarah L. Joyner; his sons, Charlie C. Patricia Joyner, and Clifford W. Jennifer Joyner; his daughter S. Katrinia Jason Godwin; his grandchildren, Mary-Louise Tyson McDaniel, Alesha D. Donald Saucier, Michael S. Brittany Joyner, Christianna M. Joyner, Rachel Shunnarah, Emily S. Joyner, P. Gage Godwin, and Aubrey G. Godwin; great-grandchildren, Emma McDaniel, Sara McDaniel, Will Creamer, Katelyn McLaughlin, John Michael Joyner future great-grandson.
