Corey was born August 6, 1988 in Kissimmee, Florida and resided in Dothan for the past fifteen years. He graduated from Dothan High School and attended Wallace Community College. He is survived by his devoted mother, Theresa McAlister, Dothan and his father, Wade McAlister, Kissimmee; his sister, Sara (Phillip) Turner and children, Braylee, Sebastien, and Lucas; his sister, Megan White and children, Alex and Hayden Dyson; his grandmothers, JoAn Breth and Dorothy McAlister; and also surviving are extended family members. He also leaves two special groups of people, the staff of UAB Hospital and Calvary Baptist Church. Corey was born with Cystic Fibrosis and through the years many months were spent in the hospital. He always soldiered on between times with a smile on his face around friends as if it never occurred but leaving heavy hearts with family. Corey referred to most people simply as "my friend". He delighted in the latest style of menswear, haircuts and the best smelling fragrances. He had his days of beef jerky, staples of catsup (only Hunts) Heinz 57 and ongoing Things and Wings. He was a Florida Gator fan (especially when they won). He enjoyed watching sports, playing basketball, and golf when able. He had a deep interest in electronics, internet, and phones were always in use. Corey loved our Lord and Calvary Baptist Church where he spent most of his time. He taught youth Sunday School, worked with the youth basketball team, and loved to sing in the choir. Calvary has supported Corey in so many ways on his journey and we will be forever grateful. We extend our humble thankfulness to the many friends who have touched his life with prayers and deeds of kindness. Corey had a Superman tattoo on his chest and he truly fought against Cystic Fibrosis but safely on the inside of his wrist was John 11:4. He had a zest for life and will be remembered for many things but certainly his love of our Lord, his beautiful smile and his will to live his life to the fullest. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jacob Chilton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00-11 am.
