Curtis Rowland Batchelor, 79, of Dothan passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, November 12, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
Curtis was born August 29, 1933 to Arlis and Irene Rowland Batchelor near Ariton, AL. He retired from GTE Telephone Company after 22 years of service. He also worked for Securitas Security Company. Curtis was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Alaska when it was still a territory. He was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a part of the Foy Strickland Sunday School class. Curtis was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Lee Batchelor Jacobs, his parents, and a sister Joyce Ann Montgomery.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 55 years, June Shirleen Batchelor; his son Larry Batchelor and his wife Sandra of Dothan; granddaughters, Tiffany Batchelor of Dothan and Heather Johnson and her husband Tyler of Lexington, KY; grandsons, Christopher Plemmons of Florida and Preston Sellers of Dothan; great-granddaughters, Alexis and Addison Johnson of Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive.
