Dalton E. Jowers

Dalton “Buddy” Jowers, of Dothan died Monday, August 10, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 82.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Jones and Rev. Tim Willis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, Alabama 36301.Mr. Jowers was born June 29, 1927 in Chipley, Florida and resided there the early years of his life. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service he returned to Chipley and married Ruth Scoggins in 1948. Mr. Jowers moved to Dothan and was employed with Liberty National Life Insurance for over thirty years. He later founded Jowers Insurance Agency where he served as an independent agent until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Jowers was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Jowers, Dothan; his daughter, Linda Jowers, Panama City Beach, Florida; two sisters, Lena Fowler, Graceville, FL and Shirley Parker, Opp, AL; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.
