Daniel A Cotant

December 8, 1954 — January 6, 2019

Daniel Aulden "Dan" Cotant, a resident of Dothan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at a local hospital. He was 64 years old. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Sunset Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Southeast Health Foundation, 1922 Fairview Ave, Dothan, AL 36301. Dan was born December 8, 1954 in Hood River, Oregon and resided in Mississippi before moving to Dothan at the age of 12. He was a 1973 graduate of Dothan High School and was a walk on football player with Auburn University. He returned to Dothan in 1982 and purchased L.C. Green's clothing store and later opened the Video Station which was the first video store in Dothan. He later worked with Merrill Lynch for 10 years and was currently working at Southeast Health. Dan loved to go to the beach and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was well known for his famous Gumbo and Brunswick Stew. But most of all Dan loved the Lord and loved sharing his faith. He served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church where he had been a longtime member. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Daniel A. Cotant, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sabrina Cotant; sons, Adam (Brittany) Cotant and Chad (Lauren) Cotant; granddaughter, Collins Leigh Cotant; brother, John (Theresa) Cotant; sisters, Kim (Rick) Rice and Lesa (Richard) Bowlin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alan and Teresa Thompson; niece, Danielle Cotant; nephews, Brandon Bowlin, Daniel Bowlin, Brett Bowlin, Trey Thompson, and Tristan Thompson. Burial Date January 11, 2019 Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Sunset Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
