Danny Wade Givens of Dothan went to be with the Lord early in the morning of Friday, August 12, 2022. He was 69 years old.
Danny was born March 19, 1953 to Jeff and Inez Givens. Anyone who met Danny will be quick to tell you about his quick wit and ever-present sense of humor. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord, his wife, his kids, and all of his many grandkids.
Danny served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned his honorable discharge in 1970. His passion for service never wavered; he also spent time as a volunteer firefighter with his brother, Kenny. Later in life, he spent many years volunteering for the Marine Corps League. His favorite event was the Toys for Tots drive.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Inez Givens; his brother, Kenny Givens; and a special cousin, Connie Caldwell. Survivors include his wife, Anita; his children, Kasey Wood (James "JP", Emily and Allison), Chasity Sanders (Cierra, RJ), Jeff Givens (Crimson), Chris and Stephanie Thomas (Christopher, Ashley, Nathan, Madison), Nick Thomas (Anthony and Amya), and his 3 great grandkids. Survivors also include his sister, Jeanie and brother-in-law Nikki Crockett; his sister-in-law, Becky Givens, along with many beloved extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Bacher and Marine Corps League Chaplain Darrell Langford officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. Flowers are being accepted, which can be sent to Sunset Funeral Home.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Kindred Hospice and his personal nurse Kaitlin Sketo.
