David Eugene Besecker

David "Dave" Eugene Besecker, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in a local hospital. He was 70 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 14, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1-2 pm.

Dave was born on November 20, 1951 in Middletown, Ohio and lived the early years of his life in Vandalia, Ohio. He was a 1969 graduate of Vandalia High School. Dave proudly served in the US Army as an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War. He worked with Wolhan Lumber Company and would later be employed with Dayton-Cox Airport. Dave moved to Dothan in the early 1980's and worked with his grandparents as the manager of Bob-A-Lu Skating Rink. He later owned the family operated business until 2007. He loved the kids, who often referred to him as Uncle Dave. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and being out in the country. Dave loved NFL Football, especially pulling for the Steelers. Listening to 1960's music, rhythm and blues, and playing his harmonica was also a special past time for Dave.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Besecker; his daughter, Elisha Dozier; his step-sons, Kevin (Katlin) Beagles and John Beagles; his step-daughter, Allison (Cody) Calhoun; his grandchildren, Cullen Dozier and Oliver Dozier; his step grandchildren, Regan, Corbin, Kasen, Grayson, Sophia, Halie, and Ryan; his brother, Larry "L. B." Besecker; his sister, Beverly Winfield; and several nieces and nephews.
