David Myron Morris, 55, a resident of Ozark passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Totten officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in David’s memory to the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center, P.O. Box 8781, Dothan, AL 36304.
Mr. Morris was born June 17, 1958 in Houston County and grew up in Dothan. He attended Columbia High School and has been involved in Law Enforcement most of his life starting his career in Henry County. He served with numerous municipalities over the extent of his career and most recently was working as an investigator with the Barbour County Sheriff's Department where he passionately fought for the safety and well-being of the children in the community. David was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed the mountains. He loved his family and especially looked forward to his monthly Sunday lunches with them. He was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Myrna Morris; his brother Royce Morris, and a grandson Hudson Wayne Carter.
Survivors include his daughters, Carrie John Irby, Monica Alan Volf, Meghan Todd Dorriety; his grandchildren, Caylie, Cody and Jana Irby, Aubreigh Carter, Caitlyn Volf, Connor and Madalynn Dorriety; his brother Douglas Kim Morris; sisters, Deborah Mixon and Jill Moore.
