David Bryant "Dave" Ott, born on September 1, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on October 31, 2023 in Dothan, Alabama. Known for his analytical mind, spirited nature, and intelligence, Dave's legacy resides in the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched.
Dave, a 1972 graduate of Peebles High School in Peebles, Ohio, was a self-taught engineer with a robust work ethic. His passion for robotics and his business-oriented mindset led him to a successful career as a Plant Manager for Industrial washing machines. Known as a very organized individual, his love for order was evident both at work and at home. His dedication, professionalism, and ability to innovate made him a respected figure in his field.
A strong-willed individual, Dave never shied away from challenges. Instead, he embraced them, using his analytical skills to find solutions and make the most of every situation. His love for NASCAR was well-known among his friends and family, often leading to lively discussions and debates. A man of faith, Dave was a Catholic, finding strength and solace in his beliefs.
Dave resided in Sarasota, Florida until 2008 when he moved to Dothan. His love for his community was evident in his daily interactions and his commitment to making a positive impact. His strong will, combined with his warm heart and infectious smile, made him a beloved figure in his community.
Dave is survived by his sons, Mark (Mandy Hafen-Ott) Ott and Bryant Ott; daughters, Tricia Ott, Tamara (Billy) Strickley, and Tyann Ott; his mother, Joan Evans Kloenne; brothers, Chris Ott, Mark (Judie) Kloenne, Steve (Teresa) Ott, Scott (Jean) Ott, and Robert (Tanya) Kloenne; sisters, Shannon Budd, and Lori (Clark) Wilson. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he adored. Dave's love for his family was unyielding, and his presence will be deeply missed at family gatherings.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, William Ott, by his stepfather, Daniel Kloenne, by his siblings, Jean Carol Kloenne, Cindy Kloenne, and Barbara Muchler.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am to 11 am. Dave will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
