Demas Houston Sanders

Demas Houston Sanders, 79, a resident of Dothan passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Clark and Deacon Jerry Deal officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders was born on October 18, 1936 in Midland, Texas and lived there the early part of his life moving to Hobbs, New Mexico where he was employed as a mail carrier for 33 years retiring in 1989. He moved to Dothan in 2000. He loved to play golf and his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a great family man and loved doing things together with all of his family. He was an avid bowler and was a member of a local bowling league and travelled with them playing in tournaments. Mr. Sanders was a member of Rainbow Meadows Church.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Myrtle Ray Sanders; 8 siblings; a daughter, Deanna Lynn Sanders Garza.

Survivors include his wife Beverly Sanders; children, Denise Sanders McEachern Donald, Debra Sanders Post Daniel, LaLonnie Andrews Sanders Hartzog Mike, and Lewana Sanders Gardner David; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Sanders, Ralph Sanders, Kenneth Sanders, Jon Sanders and Wanda Sanders Terrell.
