Derrick Dante Coleman, known to many as Dee, passed away on November 5th, 2023 in his hometown of Ozark, Alabama. Born on October 1st, 1990 in Fort Rucker, Alabama, Derrick was a man of many talents and a beacon of kindness and intelligence, always quick to share a joke or lend a hand.
Derrick was the beloved son of Edward Benjamin Coleman and Rosa Miller Coleman. He was a cherished brother to Myeron (Jatori) Stanley and Jasmine Coleman, a devoted grandson to Rosa Baker, and an adored uncle to Lila and Leo Stanley. He was also a dear nephew and friend to many. Derrick carried the memory of his late grandparents Luretha Smart, James Baker, and Bennie Crayton in his heart, honoring them through his actions and values.
A proud graduate of Carroll High School in 2009, Derrick was an intelligent individual with a natural curiosity. He enjoyed spending time with the automotive department at WRC. His love for working on cars and computers was not just limited to his professional life. He was always eager to share his knowledge and skills, often helping friends and family with their mechanical and technological needs.
Derrick had a diverse range of interests that showcased his vibrant personality. He was an avid video game enthusiast, often found at the center of lively gaming sessions with his friends and family. A fan of Southern Blues, Derrick's appreciation for R & B music added a rhythmic backdrop to his life. His love for sports, particularly basketball and baseball, was a testament to his competitive spirit and team-oriented mindset.
Derrick was best described as funny, intelligent, and kind. His humor brought laughter and lightness to any room he entered. His intelligence was not just academic, but also emotional, allowing him to connect deeply with those around him. His kindness was evident in his actions, always going the extra mile to help others and make them feel valued.
With the passing of Derrick Dante Coleman, we lose not just a beloved family member and friend, but a person who embodied the spirit of kindness, intelligence, and humor. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Parks officiating.
