Dewey Lee Wesley Grimes, a resident of Headland, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019. He was 72. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 28, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Ricky King and Jeff Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 pm. Dewey was born on November 7, 1946 in Ocee, Florida to the late John and Frankie Grimes. He worked in the orange groves in Winter Garden, Florida and moved to Chandler, Alabama. Dewey has lived in Headland for the past 30 years. He was a very hardworking family man who would help you in any way possible. Mr. Grimes loved to play poker and bingo, he was outgoing and up for anything. He enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. He was a member of Camp Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his daughter, Malinda Howard. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Donna Sue Grimes; his 5 daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Farness, Heather (Brandon) Miller, Kathy Grimes, Peggy Pope, and Cricket Murray; his grandchildren, Jessica and Willie "Bud" Barber, Terry and Destiney Farness, Austin and Kendal Farness, Cody Wilkerson, Melissa Wilkerson, John and Ally Wilkerson, Lisa Farness, Brianna Farness, Ryder Meyer, Jarett Howard, Amber Howard, Ashley and Matt Parrish; his 12 great-grandchildren; his 2 brothers, William C. Grimes and George Grimes; his 2 sisters, Bessie Hamilton and Lynn (Randall) Adams; several nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers will be Cody Wilkerson, John Wilkerson, Terry Farness, Jr., Austin Farness, Willie Barber, and Billy Faulk.
