Dewey George Mckinna, Jr

Master Sergeant Dewey George McKinna, Jr. (Ret US Army), a resident of Ozark, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019. He was 65. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Yu Hun officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one-hour prior to the service. Mr. McKinna was born on November 15, 1953 in Kentucky to the late Dewey and Francis McKinna. He joined the US Army in 1971 and served for over 20 years as a Helicopter Mechanic. While in the service, he did several oversea tours, including Vietnam. Once retired from the Army, Mr. McKinna attended Troy University in Dothan and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Accounting. He then worked for Peach Auto Body Shop as their accountant and later worked at Fort Rucker as a Data Collector. Mr. McKinna loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Tae Suk McKinna; his son, Dale (Laura) McKinna; his daughter, Kelly (Danny) Lupo; his grandchildren, Thalia Seis, Caleigh McKinna, Coral McSween, and Grayson McKinna; his sister, Sally Richards; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Yu Hun officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one-hour prior to the service.
