Dewey Wilson, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at a local hospital. He was 92.
The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5-7 pm. A private service will be held at a later date. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Wilson was born January 1, 1924 in Muskogee County, Georgia and moved to Ozark at an early age and resided there until moving to Dothan in 1939. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as an Electronic Instructor at Sparks Community College in Eufaula and later at Wallace Community College for 25 years until his retirement in 1988. Following his retirement, his hobbies included electronics and computers. He attended First Baptist Church in Dothan and Calvary Baptist Church in Abbeville. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice Wilson, and his son Thomas “Tommy” Dewey Wilson, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Allen Jones, Dianne Mike Burns, and Maggie Wilson; grandchildren, Angi Ben Bedsole, Staci Dan Giles, Philip Wilson, Jennifer Poteate, Brannon Shirah, and Calli Jones; 7 great-grandchildren.
