Don Lewis

June 11, 1940 — August 22, 2016

Ralph Don Lewis, Sr., 76, of Dothan, Alabama, died on Monday, August 22nd, at his home in Dothan, Alabama.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 25th at Westgate Church of Christ, in Dothan from 12:00-1:45 P.M.  The Celebration of Life Ceremony will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. at Westgate Church of Christ with Chris Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. Flowers will be accepted.

The pallbearers are Bobby Blount, Bill Lee, Rayford Wheeler, Tom Kirk, Ansley Whatley and Wayne Pierce.

Don Lewis was born in Covington County, Alabama and graduated from Florala High School.  He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Building Science.  Don is survived by his children, Butch and Starla Lewis, Donda and Jeff Goodson, and Mike and Crystal Lewis.  Grandchildren include Regan and Matt McTier, Mary Katherine Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Whit Harrison, Anna Beth Goodson, Callie Goodson, Claire Lewis and Hayes Lewis.  He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Cliff Harris.

Don was an active member of Westgate Church of Christ for 32 years, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He was Board President for the Dothan Boys Club, and he was a member of the Dothan Rotary Club.  He was actively involved with and served on the board for Wiregrass Christian Youth Camp.  He was also a board member at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL.

Don was very benevolent and never met a stranger.  He mentored and encouraged many young men to pursue their vocational and spiritual dreams and goals.  He loved the Lord, his wife Charlotte, his children, and grandchildren.
