Donald Patrick "Don" Dexter, a resident of Madrid, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019. He was 71. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10-11 am on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a service following at 11 am. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Donald was born March 25, 1948 in North Carolina to the late George and Nancy Dexter. Donald attended Lake Worth High School in Florida and studied theology at the Baptist College of Florida in Graceville, FL. He was drafted into the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War 1968-1970 and achieved the rank of SPC 4. Donald "Preacher Man" Dexter served proudly as Chaplain of the Iron Warrior Motorcycle Club. He was a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders and attended numerous Veteran funerals. Donald enjoyed traveling and for many years he drove commercially cross country. He loved to cook especially his world-famous ribs. He had a love for his family and animals. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Barbara Ann Watford Dexter; daughter, Tabitha E. Dexter; son Patrick G. (Heather) Dexter; step daughter, Amanda McCoy; step son, Daniel D. (Justice) Watford; grandchildren, Shelby (Elliot) Weston, Emily Bottoms, Madilyn Dexter and Sean McCoy; sister, Heather Hallada Dexter of Franklin, North Carolina; brother, Frank B. Genung of Lake Worth, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be members of the Iron Warrior Motorcycle Club.
