Donald Edward Schwab

Donald Edward Schwab, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Encompass Hospice, 205 Graceland Dr., Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36305. Mr. Schwab was born on February 17, 1939 in Erie, PA and spent the early part of his life there. He was a 1957 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and also attended the Erie Business Center. He joined the U.S. Army and spent his tour of duty stationed in Germany. He was later employed with G.E. and moved to Dothan in 1995, retiring in 2001 following39 years of employment. He was an avid baseball fan and especially enjoyed pulling for the New York Yankees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gladys Schwab and a granddaughter, Alicia Reinhardt. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Schwab; children, David (Shannon) Schwab, Suzan (Thomas) Reinhardt, and Heidi (Jimmy) Schwab; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Ron) Katz, Lola (Bud) Sprouse, and Jan (Mert) Wilson; several nieces and nephews.
