Doris Chan Etchberger

Doris Chan Etchberger, 99, of Dothan, Alabama passed away at home on December 29, 2021. Doris was born on September 22, 1922 in Ancón, Panama, location of the Panama Canal.

Doris was second-generation Canal family; graduating high school, achieving a Bachelor's degree and returning to the Canal to be the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She met her husband, Thomas N. Etchberger, Jr., also a second-generation Canal family, while living in Panama.

She retired after 39 years as a secretary and moved to the United States with her husband. They had one child, Thomas N. Etchberger, III.

Preceding her are her husband; parents; one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Thomas N. Etchberger, III (Lisa) of Dothan, AL; and two grandsons, Thomas N. Etchberger, IV and James Q. Etchberger, both of Dothan.

A private family burial will be held at Gardens of Memory in Headland, Alabama.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in the springtime of 2022 and announced at a later date.
