Doris Press, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at her residence. She was 86.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk and Rev. Dr. Mark G. Press officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial gifts may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church, 105 Luther Way, Dothan, AL, 36301 or the Oswald Hoffmann School of Christian Outreach 275 Syndicate St. N., St. Paul, MN, 55104.Doris Esther ‘nee Dornbrook Press was born May 13, 1922, to the late Clarence F. and the late Helen ‘nee Meitz Dornbrook in Detroit, Michigan. She was baptized on June 4, 1922, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Detroit, Michigan. She attended Bethany’s school and was confirmed April 5, 1936, by Rev. Oswald G.L. Riess. Doris was married on August 20, 1948 to Rev. Gottfried G. Press of Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2007. The Press family made their home in West Branch, MI, moving subsequently to Kinde, MI, Port Arthur, TX, Gulfport, MS, Ozark, AL and Herington, KS. Rev. and Mrs. Press lived in Dothan, Alabama since 1998.Doris was preceded in death by her husband Gottfried G. Press and two sons Luther in 1963 and Paul H. in 2000 and a granddaughter Jessica Press.Survivors include two sons, Mark G. Connie Press of Woodbury, MN and Steven M. Wendy Press of Headland, Alabama; one daughter-in-law Mrs. Gail Press of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren, Sarah Brian Stolarczyk, Jeremy Press, Nathan Natalie Press, Christen Press, Deborah Press, Paul Press, Rebecca Press, Joshua Press and Zachary Press; one great-grandson Raymond Stolarczyk. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Press, Nathan Press, Joshua Press, Zachary Press, Fred Karayan and Loren Reed. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
