Dorothy Mixon Martin

Dorothy Mixon Martin, 90, of Dothan passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her daughter’s home.

Services will be held 2 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bastien officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 pm prior to the service at the church.Mrs. Martin was born September 15, 1920 in Dale County and lived the early years of her life in the Ozark area and was a graduate of Ariton High School. Mrs. Martin has resided in Dothan since 1940 and was a charter member of Headland Avenue Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Travis Howell Martin and her infant daughter Pamela Lee Martin.Survivors include her son Vernon Gary Martin, Sr. Janet of Dothan; daughters, Linda Ray Clark of Dothan and Glenda Martin Hammond of Headland; grandchildren, Travis Bryant Hammond, Cornelia Hammond Glenn, Carmen Hammond Ryan, Vernon Gary Martin, Jr., Stephanie Martin Diepenmaat, Dr. Jack Clark, Jr., Theresa Mitchel, Todd Clark, and Shannon Clark; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Cara Martin, Sophia and Julia Diepenmaat, Anna Clark, Jackson Hammond, Julia Cameron Ryan, Joanna Taylor Ryan, Harrison Clark, Riley Clark, and Grace Clark; several nieces and nephews.Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and a nephew Edward Martin.
