Dorothy Carol Stembridge

Dorothy Carol Stembridge, a resident of Newton, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was 72 years old.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 pm. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Stembridge was born on June 18, 1948 in Virginia and lived the early years of her life there. She resided in Dothan for a few short years before moving to Columbia, SC. She would return to this area in early 1990. Mrs. Stembridge enjoyed teaching art to students at Providence Christian School until her retirement. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed riding Tennessee Walking Horses. Mrs. Stembridge was a member of First Presbyterian Church and attended Newton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. J. D. Stembridge; her stepdaughter, Jayma Stembridge; her stepson, Ben Stembridge; her sisters-in-law, Sara Perry and Angeline Rainwater; her niece, Joy Vann; her nephew, Ross (Desiree) Jones; and her great niece and nephew, Brett Vann and Avery Vann.
