Dorothy “Dot” Davis Wetmore passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017. She was 85. Born September 23, 1931 in Lauren’s County Georgia, Dot was surrounded by family as she passed last week.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Morgan Davis, her brother Eugene Davis, loving husbands Robert L. Altee and Alfred “Al” Wetmore and daughter Leslie Weatherly.

Dot moved from Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida at an early age. She graduated from Andrew Jackson high school and promptly began a career at Prudential Insurance company where she worked for over 20 years. After husband Robert Altee passed, Dot met handsome merchant marine Al Wetmore and began a whirlwind marriage that led her to travel to many vibrant cities around the world. After losing Al to cancer, Dot moved to Dothan, Alabama to be closer to family. She lived in Dothan for 14 years. Dot enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and cuddling babies. A member of the Young at Heart exercise class, Dot was also an avid Florida Gators fan. Dot was a member of The Daughters of the Nile and the Eastern Star. While in Dothan, she worshipped at Ridgecrest Baptist Church and Heritage Baptist Church. Dot will be missed by her loving family.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, Alabama 36350. In lieu of flowers, the Cramer family requests donations be made in Dot’s honor at the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
