Douglas Dawson East, of Dothan, AL died on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Dale Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 84. Mr. East retired from the Department of the Army as a chief administrator for Air Traffic Control. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, an avid golfer at the Dothan Country Club, and a longtime member of St. Columba Catholic Church. A native of Pulaski, VA and a 1952 graduate of Pulaski High School, Mr. East was the son of the late Raymond H. and Otley D. East. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Agnes P. East; two brothers, Ray (Caroline) East of Charlottesville, VA, and Jim East of Franklin, TN; three nieces and one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in the chapel of Sunset Memorial Park, 1700 Barrington Rd. in Dothan. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at St. Columba Catholic Church, 2700 W. Main St. in Dothan. Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
