Douglas O'Neal Mckeown

Douglas O’Neal McKeown, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his residence. He was 70.

Dr. McKeown was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 2, 1946 and lived there the early years of his life. Dr. McKeown, a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, was the Forensic Examiner with the Department of Mental Health for 37 Alabama counties, Clinical Director for Pathway Residential Wilderness Program and Hospital, a medical expert for the Office of Hearing and Appeals with the Social Security Administration, the Clinical Director for Camp Horizon in Baldwin County, AL, the Clinical Director for the Boys and Girls Home, Southeast Alabama Youth Services, and the Psychological Consultant with the Department of Public Safety, the Alabama State Troopers.

Dr. McKeown was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas O. McKeown, Major (ret) and Gitte Thylstrup McKeown.

Survivors include his children, William Douglas McKeown, Dr. Jonathan O. (Caitlin) McKeown, Joshua L. (Lindsey) McKeown, J.D., and Courtney Brianne Freeman; his grandchildren, Molly O’Neal McKeown and Elise Gitte McKeown; his brother, Dr. William David McKeown; his sister, Suzie M. Cline; several nieces and nephews.
