Dr. Russell L. Jones

Dr. Russell L. Jones, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. He was 55. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollis Ritter officiating. Graveside services will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Trot for S.W.A.T., c/o City of Dothan Police Department, 210 N. St. Andrews St., Dothan, AL 36303. Dr. Jones was born on June 19, 1962 in Klamath Falls, Oregon and grew up in Capps, Alabama. He was a 1980 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended the University of Alabama. He received his doctorate from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, GA. He and his wife moved to Dothan in 1991 and opened Jones Center of Chiropractic which he operated until his recent illness. Dr. Jones was a Mason and a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan. Dr. Jones was preceded in death by his father, Major Walton W. Jones, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Murphy of Capps, Alabama and Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Jones of LaGrange, GA.Survivors include his son, Murphy Pierce (Megan) Jones, Daleville, AL; his mother and step-father, Peggy and Jim Carter, Capps, AL; his step-mother, Velva Jones, Dunwoody, GA; his brothers, Philip (Kathe) Jones, Port St. Joe, FL and Jeff (Jennifer) Jones, Dothan, AL; his sister, Julie Ohnstad, Dunwoody, GA; a special friend, Kendra Ouellette, Destin, FL; mother of his son, Dr. Lauren Scott Jones, Radford, VA; several nieces and nephews and extended family and a host of friends also survive.
