Dr. Robert Scott Gamble, a resident of Dothan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 56, surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy battle with cancer. Scott will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend to many. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Scott will be greatly missed by those who love him.

A Celebration of Scott's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Logos Baptist Church with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Logos Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Logos Baptist Church Fund, 736 Shady Lane, Dothan, AL 36301.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Thomas, Jimmy Warden, Dr. Kirk Holland, Jason Owens, Chad Mims and Dr. Kevin Kingry. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Logos Baptist Church.

Scott was born on April 25, 1968 in Dothan, Alabama and lived the early years of his life in Webb, Alabama. Following graduation from Ashford High School in 1986, Scott obtained a degree in biology from Troy State University where he was a member of Troy's 1987 Division II National Championship football team. Marrying his high school sweetheart on June 23, 1990, he went on to further his education by earning a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University's Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in 1995.

After working as an associate dentist in Montgomery, Alabama for several years, Scott established Gamble Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Ashford, Alabama in 1998. He dedicated the next 25 years of his professional life fostering relationships with his patients and staff ensuring that each person who walked through his doors received care that was both skilled and compassionate. Scott found joy in celebrating his children, and creating memories filled with love and laughter while relaxing at the lake, playing the guitar, and traveling with his family. He served as deacon at Logos Baptist Church and deeply loved his church.

Scott leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife of nearly 34 years, Sherry Odom Gamble; their daughter, Ashlyn Elise Gamble; their son, Zachary Scott Gamble; his parents, Robert Earl and Annette Smith Gamble; his sister, Suzanne Gamble Johnson (Tommy); his aunt, Martha Shelley (Bob); his mother-in-law, Sue Brown; his sisters-in-law, Amy Holloway (Scott) and Dana Ferguson (Michael); nieces, Mikayla Ferguson and Anna Ferguson; nephew, Brody Barnett; and numerous cousins.

Scott is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Dollie Smith; his paternal grandparents, Wyatt and Annette Gamble; and his father-in-law, Jimmy Odom.

The Gamble family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rodney Beauchamp, the John Hopkins Medicine Neuro-Oncology Team, CenterWell Home Health, Gentiva Hospice, Kim Lovelace and Ben McCain for their compassionate care.
