Earl Gordon Hardy

November 5, 1933 — January 17, 2021

Earl Gordon Hardy, age 87, a resident of Midland City, AL, was called home to his Lord and Savior, January 17, 2021 at Southeast Health, Dothan, AL.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a graveside service for immediate family will be held at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Gidden officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Angel of Hope Statue, c/o Steve Hardwick, 1432 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL 36303.

Earl was born in Dothan, AL and was a graduate of Dothan High School, where he played football. A quiet, kind, and unwavering man to all he met, Earl was committed to serving his family and his community. With a love for his country, he served in the United States Army and then in the Army National Guard, retiring as Warrant Officer. Earl also served as an Auxiliary State Trooper in his younger days. He retired from The Dothan Eagle having worked there for 40 years. After retirement, he worked as a security officer at the Federal Court House Building. Earl was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed woodworking, along with taking care of his pets.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Sarah Peacock Hardy; wife, Rosemary Hardy; son, Gordy Hardy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ailene (Gene) Anderson and Jeanie (Gilbert) McDaniel; and a niece, Shirley Andrews.

He is survived by his granddaughters, Ashley Exparza of Lubbock, TX, and Kristen Exparza of San Antonio, TX; sister Becky (Louis) Boothe of Dothan, AL; sister-in-law, Thresia (Bill) Weber of Panama City Beach, FL; nephews, Lewron (Kathy) McDaniel of Decatur, GA, Don Anderson of Austin, TX, and Eddie Boothe of Eufaula, AL; nieces, Allyson (Chad) Mims of Dothan, AL, and April Young of Leesburg, GA; great nieces, Amy McDaniel of Decatur, GA, and Carmen (Josh) Chapman of Trussville, AL ; great nephews, Phillip McDaniel of Decatur GA, Casey Boothe of Eufaula, AL, Addison and Harrison Mims of Dothan, AL, and Trey and Cole Young of Leesburg, GA; one aunt, Dot Shelley Hardy of Tumbleton, AL; step-daughter, Katrina Paschal of Houston, TX; and several cousins.
