Edgar Greer

Edgar M. Greer, 78, a resident of Midland City passed away August 2, 2012 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug MacCormack officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 pm until 8 pm Friday.

Mr. Greer was born January 9, 1934 in Slocomb and he resided the early years of his life there.  He was a 1952 graduate of Slocomb High School and later received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee.   Mr. Greer also received a master’s degree from Troy University and his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Bethany Bible College.  He was an ordained pastor and also taught at Dothan High School and Daleville High School.  Mr. Greer was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Greer, Midland City; his sons, Timothy Joe Greer, Midland City and Levi Michael Mistie Greer, Midland City; his daughter, Pamela Greer Tony Smith, Daleville; his grandchildren, Miranda Greer, Travis Greer, Kyle Greer, Tori Riley, Justin Wallace, Matthew Locke, and Michael Locke; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
