Edith Loretta Foley

July 19, 1920 — January 3, 2017

Edith Loretta Foley, 96, longtime resident of Dothan, passed to the afterlife on Tuesday January 3, 2017. She will finally rest next to her beloved husband David.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Tucker and Rev. Mark Kocsis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

A devoted military wife, she followed her husband throughout his military career and brought to life three loving children, David Leroy, Donald Edward, and Diana Lee. As a military family, they travelled across North and South America retiring to Dothan in 1971. Many of their neighbors were Panama Canal retirees.

Edith filled her life in Dothan with church activities. She sang in the choir and helped at bazaars to raise money for needy causes. She also developed a passion for ceramics and had a great eye for color. She created and hand painted exquisite ceramic dolls to supply the never-ending list of those that wanted one.

Edith left Dothan after being a resident for 45 years to spend her last years with family in North Carolina. She is survived by her three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A caring loving mother and friend to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed.
