Elden Ray Shuff

Elden Ray Shuff, 82, a resident of Ashford passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at a local hospital.

A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. Columba Catholic Church Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating and Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Columba Catholic Campaign Fund, 2700 West Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Mr. Shuff was born March 4, 1932 in St. Landry Parrish, LA and spent the early part of his life there. He graduated from Eunice High School and later from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. He owned and operated a number of truck stops in Louisiana for several years and was very active in state politics lobbying for trucking interests in Louisiana. Mr. Shuff moved to Ashford 7 years ago and attended St. Columba Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife Iva Shuff and an infant son.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn Shuff; a son Dan Sandi Shuff; daughters, Rebecca Allen Bracewell and Miriam Bryan Babineaux; grandchildren, Carey, Danielle, Thomas, and Emily; a sister Bessie Mazzola; a brother Ivan Shuff; numerous nieces and nephews; 5 step-children; 8 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
