Elder Zibbie L Dawsey, Jr.

Elder Zibbie L. Dawsey, Jr., a resident of Ashford, transitioned from this life to the next on Friday, May 31, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at United Christian Fellowship Church, Dothan, AL with Dr. C. L. Green officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery with Sunset Memorial Park directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Zibbie was born on February 7, 1955 in Houston County, AL to the late Zibbie L. Dawsey, Sr. and Addie Mae Dawsey. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a member of Shady Grove M. B. Church #2, Dothan, AL. He later moved under pastorialship of Pastor Hal Reynolds, Jr. after graduating in the class of 1973 from high school he served in the US Air Force, but God had another plan for his life. In 1985 he accepted his calling into the ministry and became pastor of Oakey Grove M. B. Church in Ashford, AL for more than 30 years until his transition and Sardis M. B. Church in Bay Springs, AL for 11 years. He served as Rural District Baptist Association Moderator for 20 years and received his Honorary Doctrine in Theology in 2002. He took great joy in driving trucks for over 30 years. On September 17, 1976 he married the love of his life Ethel Jennette Dawsey, his wife of 42 ½ years, to this union, three children were born. Zibbie was preceded in death by his father, Dec. Zibbie Dawsey, Sr. and his sister, Addie Dean Dawsey. He leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful wife of 42 ½ years, Ethel Jennette Dawsey, Ashford, AL; his son, Minister Tristan Dawsey, Montgomery, AL; his daughters, Charity L. Dawsey, Ashford, AL and Laneshia R. Reynolds (Pastor Hal Reynolds, Jr.), Ashford, AL; his four granddaughters, Jazlyn Snell, Tamyra Snell, A'Iyanna Reynolds, and Haleigh Reynolds (DaBugg) all of Ashford; his two grandsons, Brendyn Reynolds and Jacquone Reynolds, Dothan, AL; his mother, Addie Mae Dawsey, Dothan, AL; his two brothers, Pastor Danny (Patricia) Dawsey, Dothan, AL and D. C. Dawsey, Gunnery Sergeant USMC Ret., Bakersville, CA; his four special friends, Pastor Willie Redding (Put), Dec. Jett, Brother Steve Rivers, and Dr. C. L. Green; his two special brothers-in-law, Torrence Dickens and Natasha Dickens; all together a total of six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
