Elderene Ball Coldiron, a beacon of light and love, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2023, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on March 23, 1935, in Dale County, Alabama, Elderene's life was a testament to selfless love, tireless dedication, and unwavering faith.

Elderene was a loving wife to Robert P. "Bob" Coldiron, III for an incredible 66 years. Their enduring bond was a testament to their shared values and mutual respect. She was also a doting mother to her daughters, Catherine Lynne (Timothy) Sahagun and Laura Leigh Coldiron, and cherished her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Elderene was the beloved sister of Ted Ball, Robert Leon (Brenda) Ball, and Roba L. Taylor. Her memory will also be treasured by all who knew her, though she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Mark Coldiron.

Raised in Pinckard, Alabama, Elderene was a proud graduate of Newton High School. Her passion for service led her to a fulfilling 35-year career with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker, where she made an indelible impact until her retirement in 1998.

Elderene was known for her generosity, always ready to extend a helping hand to those around her. She was the epitome of selflessness, always putting others first. She even extended her kindness to the lawn maintenance crew, often surprising them with thoughtful gifts.

Her creativity shone brightly in her talent for sewing, seen most notably in the stunning wedding dress she crafted with her own hands. Her children and grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and she showered them with unconditional love and affection.

Elderene's faith was a cornerstone of her life and provided her with a wellspring of strength. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at St. Columba Catholic Church Chapel, with Father Jim Dane officiating. Elderene will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family in celebration of Elderene's life at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 4-6 pm, with a Rosary service commencing at 6 pm.
