Eldon Anton Klapal

Eldon Anton Klapal, 93, born January 17, 1924 passed away Tuesday morning April 25, 2017 in his home after a long illness.

Services will be held at 11 am Saturday April 29, 2017 with visitation one hour prior at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clint McBroom officiating. Following with honorable military service and burial at Memory Hill. At other times the family will be at the home of his son, Freddy Klapal, 738 Beatrice Road, Kinsey, AL.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Highland Park United Methodist Church 1619 S Park Ave, Dothan, AL, 36301 and Alacare Hospice, 3379 W Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36305.

Mr. Klapal was born January 17, 1924 in Sargent, Nebraska. He joined the United States Air Force in October 1943 and retired July 1963. He was stationed in Napier Field, AL where he met his love and soul mate Patricia Ruth Pickett. They married May 9, 1945 and lived a long, happy life together raising their children. They traveled many years in the states as well as overseas as he served in the US Air Force, serving in the Korean conflict and flew Acrojets 1950-1953. He truly loved talking with others about his experience with the US Air Force. After his retirement from the US Air Force, he worked with Flowers Hospital as administrator and then WTVY as General Manager.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his yard, along with many family gatherings. He truly loved his family, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, and Faith, Hope and Love Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ruth Klapal, his daughter Marlena Joy Bonner and a brother Frank Klapal.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Jane Hartley, Dothan AL and Xanthea Kennedy, Deatsville AL; one son, Freddy (Teresa) Kinsey AL; grandchildren, Michele Vanlandingham, Noel (Dawn) Vanlandingham, Lance (Kelly) Hawkins, Curtis (Michelle) Hillman Jr., Charles Anthony Hartley (Blair), Tessa (Dusty) Connelly, Kristopher Klapal, Donna DeVane, Reed DeVane (Dawn); 15 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, James (Angelyn) Pickett and sister-in-law Geraldine Pickett; a loving caregiver and special friend Marty Juve and Petrina Anthony (for 8 years).

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Noel Vanlandingham, Charles A. Hartley, Curtis L. Hillman Jr., Kristopher Klapal, Reed DeVane and a nephew, Kyn Pickett.< /p> ) Burial Date April 29, 2017
