Surrounded by her loving family, Ella Myrl Deese of Midland City, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was 85.
Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Max McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Myrl was born on February 6, 1927 in Midland City, AL to the late Guy Metcalf and Edna Godwin Metcalf. In 1948, she married Hilyard Deese. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and Nanny. Myrl retired from TRW Globe Motors. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Myrl was a member of Mount Zion Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilyard Deese; an infant daughter, Touwanna Deese; great-grandson, Andrew Salter; and her loving sisters Jackie Tolar, Mert Paulk and Jean Jenkins.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws, Elaine Mauldin of Midland City, AL, Janice and Arthur Cannon of Dothan, AL, Becky and Paul Thompson of Wilmington, DE; son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Pam Deese of Cottonwood, AL; eleven grandchildren, Theron Lingo Deanne, Malaine Carr Rick, Johnny Lingo, Michelle Shipes Timothy, Melinda Meyer Dan, Stacie Keating Charles, Jana Gindhart Joey, Barry Cannon, Amy McNeill Todd, Courtney Vickers Joshua, and Kaley Thompson; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kate Rester of Dothan, AL.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Roger Riley, Joe Creamer, Bill Slayton, Tony Rodon, Theron Lingo and Johnny Lingo.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Alacare Hospice, especially their caregivers Angela and Mary.
