Ellen Rose Mcdowell

November 5, 1938 — December 11, 2020

Ellen Rose McDowell, a resident of Dothan, passed away on December 11, 2020. She was 82.

Mrs. McDowell was born in Cullman, Alabama. She lived in Bremen, Alabama for the early years of her life. Mrs. McDowell married her loving husband, William M. McDowell, on November 22, 1956. She spent over 40 years in Birmingham, where she was employed at Bell South telephone company. She resided in Kentucky before moving to Pensacola, Florida. Mrs. McDowell then moved to the Dothan area in 2019. She was a wonderful cook and would prepare Sunday dinner for her family every weekend. Mrs. McDowell was known for making the best potato salad and banana pudding. She was of Methodist faith. Mrs. McDowell will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Scott) Smith and Mary (Steve) Farmer; five grandchildren, Kristin Riley, Michael (Adrienne) Farmer, Brian Farmer, Alyssa Smith, and Morgan Smith; four great-grandchildren, Parker Brant, Natalie Farmer, Kaden Tolleson, and Cameron Farmer; two brothers, Leland Sandlin and Benny Sandlin; one sister, Marilyn Wiggins; two nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
