Elsie Inez Pate

February 14, 1926 — May 9, 2015

Elsie Inez Brown Pate, of Ashford, AL, known to all as MaPate, entered into the Kingdom of her Lord on May 9, 2015, at the age of 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Habbard and Rev. Greg Aman officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, May 11, 2015 from 6-8pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  At other times the family will be at her home, 121 Magnolia Drive, Apt. 1, Ashford, AL.

Mrs. Pate's greatest joys in life were being a mother to her 8 children, wife, sister and dear friend to her community.  She spent her time in devotion and in service to God and bringing her idea of Heaven to this Earth with every flower that bloomed through the works of her faithful and loving hands.

Mrs. Pate is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pate, her daughter, Sue Johnson, her sons, Charles Pate, Jerome Pate, and Terry Pate.

Survivors include her son, John Pate; her daughter, Eleanor Faye and Jerry Knight; her son, Glenn and Barbara Pate; her daugher, Denise and Greg Tate; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Pate; her sister, Martha Ellen Smith and family; her brother, Johnny Mac and Dale Brown and family; her grandchildren, Dewayne and Terri Knight, Susan and Mike Thompson, Stephanie Senn, Jennifer Pate, Kristy and Mike Boney, Dustin and Ashleigh Tate, Amanda and John Linn, and Connor Pate; her great-grandchildren, Austin Knight, Samantha Evans, Caleb Knight, Luke Knight, Milli Smith, London Boney, Jake Linn, and Kooper and Kase Tate.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Dewayne Knight, Dustin Tate, Connor Pate, Austin Knight, Caleb Knight, and Luke Knight.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her church community, Wayside Baptist Church, her close friend, Tina Skinner, and the first responders and healthcare team of Southeast Alabama Medical Center for the kind compassionate care shown to her.
