March 23, 1935 — February 16, 2019

Emma Sue Thompson, a resident of Dothan passed away Saturday February 16, 2019 at a local hospital. She was 83. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045 Dothan, AL 36302. Mrs. Thompson was born March 23, 1935 in North Hampton County, VA and lived there the earlier years of her life until she moved to Dothan in 1977. She was a homemaker and was a very loving mother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Thompson loved feeding and watching the birds at her home. She also enjoyed taking cruises with her family to Alaska and Mexico. She loved her fur baby pets especially "Miss Kitty," who kept her company at home. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and going to Dothan Botanical Gardens. She was a member of Spirit Filled Community Church in Cowarts, AL. She is survived by her sons, Dwayne Sayers, Bryan Sayers, David (Debbie) Howe, and Les (Sue) Widgeon; her daughters, Kathy (David) Butler, Nina (Luke) Simmons, Judy (Gary) Mowrey; her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Bull and Nelda Stant; and several nieces and nephews.
