Erma D. Beasley

Erma D. Matthews Beasley, 88, daughter of the late Henry and Bama Matthews, born December 13, 1922, went home to be with our Lord and Savior and Heavenly Family on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011.

rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. At all others times the family will be at the home of Robert and Ruby Beasley, 9374 S. Hwy. 123 South, Newton, AL. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 2005 County Rd. 55, Newton, AL, 36352. rnrnMs. Beasley was a homemaker and a very active member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, bible school volunteer, arranged the card ministry, youth counselor, or whatever she was called on to do. She will be remembered as a devout Christian, a wonderful and sweet lady who was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, as well as a good friend to all. Those of us that have been left behind will remember the smile on her face, the kind word, the song in her heart, and her uplifting spirit no matter how tough things were.rn rnMs. Beasley was preceded in death by her former husband James Earl Beasley, a daughter Robbie Lee Beasley, a grandson Anthony Gilley, and a brother Floyd Matthews. rnrnSurvivors include a son Robert Ruby Beasley of Newton; daughters, Mary James Gilley of Newton and Betty Billy Tew of Slocomb; grandchildren, Phillip Nancy Gilley, Ashley Lori Beasley, Bobby Misty Beasley, Chad Erin Beasley, and Tasha Tony Orlando; great-grandchildren, Ashley Everett and Kassidy Gilley, Angelina and Julianna Orlando, and Brody Beasley; a great-great-grandchild Addison Brooke Everett; several nieces and nephews also survive.rn rnServing as pallbearers will be grandsons, Phillip Gilley, Ashley Beasley, Bobby Beasley, and Chad Beasley, along with Chris Brown, Lowell William. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior, Wayne, Terry, and Nathan Matthews, and Susan Baker. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
