Ernest Register

Mr. Ernest "Paul" Register, age 62, of Dothan passed away Monday, December 10, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Dothan, Alabama with a warm smile, hardy laugh, and jovial spirit that made everyone's day better. A memorial service honoring Mr. Register will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends starting at 9:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. The family will be accepting flowers. Paul was a lifelong resident of Dothan, Alabama and the younger of two children of Mr. Ernest "Page" Register and Mrs. Marie Wilson Register, also of Dothan, Alabama. He was a graduate of Dothan High School and the University of South Alabama. Paul rarely met a stranger. And, with his warm smile, hardy laugh, and jovial spirit, he made everyone's day better. He could always tell a joke or recount stories in delightful detail with his deep, booming voice. He loved to fish and hunt as well as cook (and most of all eat) anything on the grill. He was a tireless worker, with over 35 years with the United States Postal Service. Paul loved his family and his friends. And, he wished all those that he met and knew the very best. Survivors include his son, Preston Young (Peyton) Register; grandchildren, Barrett and Hallie Brooke Register; a sister, Patricia Register (Ronnie) Bradley; an aunt, Janice (Wayne) Gainey; niece and nephews, Paige (Karen) Bradley, Lee (Jennifer) Bradley and Laine (Kyle) Adams; several great nieces and nephews.
