Esther Modema Owen

Modema was born on April 13, 1947 in Enterprise to parents Clarence and Iola Faulk. Modema was a loving, faithful, and hard working woman with careers spanning from White Knight textile to becoming a creative small business owner of Heritage Ceramics in Dothan, before retiring from a lengthy career as a Wal-Mart district manager.

In her retirement years, Modema became a talented quilter and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Modema was preceded in death by her mother, Iola Faulk, her father, Clarence Faulk, and her son, Clifton Thomas Owen, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Alethea (Ken) Owen Sallinger; her brother Joel (Ann) Faulk; her grandchildren Brittaney Owen (Matthew Hughes), Thomas Owen, Brandon (Stacey) Dean, Tara (Chad) Margetson, Michael Sallinger; her great-grandchildren Rosie Hughes, Bradley Dean, Evan Margetson, Claire Margetson; her nieces Amy (Aaron) Argo, April Parker; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

A memorial service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1700 Barrington Rd., Midland City, AL, 36350, this Saturday, October 23rd, with Pastor Aaron Argo officiating at 10:30 a.m. Friends and family will be received for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Modema's honor to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
