Ethea Farmer Whiters

Ethea Farmer Whiters, a resident of Dothan passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Acts Church Christian Center with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park.Mrs. Whiters was born on October 22, 1919 in Henry County and lived in Shorterville, AL for 60 years. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Sylvester Whiters, Sr. who preceded her in death. She moved to Dothan in 1972 and was employed with the Dothan City School System at Grandview Elementary School and Northview High School until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church and served there as an usher.Survivors include her sons, Sylvester Joann Whiters of Dothan, Norman Dollie Whiters of Cowarts, Ronnie Whiters of Dothan; grandchildren, Dedra Mitchell of Dothan, T.J. Mitchell of Dothan, Steven Whiters of Dothan, Sonja Whiters Brooks of Dothan; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister Earmesta Whiters of Dothan; a host of nieces and nephews. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
