Deacon Ezell N. Jackson was born September 20, 1935 to the late Frank and Bessie Mae Jackson of Houston County, Alabama. He departed this life at the age of 82 in his home on September 17, 2018 surrounded by his wife, family, friends, and his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold McKissick, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11:00 a.m. on the day of the service. After graduating High School, Deacon Jackson relocated to Atlanta, GA where he became an entrepreneur and started his own trucking business. He was blessed to have had his business for over 30 years and he later retired. After retirement, Deacon Jackson was employed for many years with the Dothan City School System Department of Transportation, where he retired in 2017. Deacon Jackson had a love for fishing. He enjoyed fishing on his boat as well as the boat of his friends. He enjoyed gatherings at his friend's homes. He also enjoyed eating out at Golden Coral where he would try to out eat his son-in-law. He was a member of the Patterson Street Freewill Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama where he was ordained as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Frank and Bessie Mae Jackson and his only sibling, a brother, Billie Mae Ray Jackson. Deacon Ezell N. Jackson leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving wife Ella Mae Jackson, a son Ezell Jackson, Jr., a daughter, two step daughters, Nancy (Allen) Thomas and Theresa Webb; 2 step sons, Michael Webb and John Lucas; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Burial Date September 24, 2018 Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold McKissick, Sr. officiating.
