Felecia Denise Barber, a beacon of joy and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 68. Born on March 29, 1956, in Birmingham, AL, Felecia's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she shared with those around her.
Felecia was a cherished wife to the late Bobby Barber, daughter of the late Jonathan McCord and Sadie Maul and a beloved sister to Willie Joe McCord, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted children: Mildred McClendon, Kimeka Barber, Bobbette (Louis) Clark, Robert Barber, and Angelia Barber. Her effervescent joy will forever be remembered by her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will also be deeply missed by her caring siblings, Joyce Philippe of Richmond, VA, David Earl McCord of Vauxhall, NJ, Vivian Francis of Vauxhall, NJ, and Dorothy Davis of Elizabeth, NJ, along with numerous nieces and nephews who were blessed to know her.
With a career that spoke volumes of her commitment to others, Felecia retired as a safety director from Purdue Farms. Her work not only ensured the well-being of her colleagues but also reflected her dedication to fostering a safe and supportive community. Felecia's involvement with the Eastern Star and the Pink Hat Lady Society, alongside her dear friend Mama Tina, showcased her passion for service and camaraderie.
Felecia's interests painted the picture of a woman who embraced life with open arms. She never met a stranger, and her ability to love everyone unconditionally was her superpower. A savvy shopper, she was always on the hunt for the best sales, turning every shopping trip into an adventure. Her enthusiasm for life also found joy in the excitement of the casino and the serenity of the beach, where she could be found basking in the sun and the company of friends and family.
Known for her vibrant personality and infectious laughter, Felecia's presence could light up any room. Her zest for life was evident in every interaction, making lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Her spirit of generosity and warmth will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
As we say goodbye to Felecia, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the hearts of those she touched with her extraordinary spirit.
A celebration of Felecia’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest by her dear husband, Bobby, in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home from 10-11 am to honor her memory.
