Frances Lucille (Payne) Knowles

November 10, 1941 — January 18, 2024

Dothan

Frances Lucille Knowles, known fondly as Frances or Fran, and endearingly as Neenie by her grandchildren, was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Born in Talladega, Alabama, on November 10, 1941, to Jim and Alice Heath, Fran grew up surrounded by a large, loving family. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful conclusion on January 18, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, after an extended illness. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and an unwavering spirit that will continue to inspire all.

Fran's life was one marked by enduring love and devotion. She shared 64 beautiful years with her beloved husband, John Knowles. Together, they raised a family of five children: Marsha and her husband Tim, Jammie, Greg, Paula, and Brandon. Her love multiplied with the arrival of each of her five grandchildren, Nick and his wife Janna, Savana and her husband Johnny, Cody and his wife Rachel, Heath and his wife Madeline, and Trevor and Charity. Fran's joy was further amplified by the birth of her seven great-grandchildren, Emberlin, Charlie, Max, Scout, Eden, Zane, and Maverick.

Fran's journey was one of lifelong learning and growth. She was the heart of her family and a cornerstone of her community. Her kind and gentle nature, combined with a firm resolve, made her a pillar of strength to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Fran's love for rock and roll, particularly the music of Bob Seger, was a testament to her youthful spirit and zest for life.

A devout Christian, Fran's faith was unshakeable. She cherished her church family at Harvest Church and lived her life as a testament to her beliefs. Her love for Alabama football was matched only by her passion for cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Her kitchen was not just a place of nourishment but a hub of laughter, warmth, and wisdom.

Fran's playful side was evident in her enjoyment of old video games, which she loved sharing with her family. These moments of joy and camaraderie will be cherished memories for her family.

A celebration of Fran's life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. Fran will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, leaving behind a trail of love and light. The family will welcome friends and loved ones at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm to share stories, laughter, and tears.

Fran's life was a beautiful symphony of love, faith, and resilience. She was a testament to the power of living a life filled with purpose and grace. As we honor her memory, let us carry forward the lessons she imparted: to live with kindness, to nurture our faith, and to face life's challenges with a gentle but firm resolve.
