Frank Jiles Anderson

Frank Jiles Anderson, a beacon of faith and a testament to kindness, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, in Snellville, GA. Frank, who was born on March 13, 1940, in Coffee County, AL, lived a life characterized by generosity and a steadfast commitment to his beliefs.


Frank's loving parents, Philmore and Nicie Mae Anderson moved their family to Hartford, AL where he matriculated through and graduated from Hartford High School. The family shared a love of God, community, and fishing. His parents, his brothers, Walter, Curtis, William, Willie, Robert, Eugene and Clarence and his only sister Dora, all preceded him to heavens gates.


Frank's journey led him to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a period during which he exemplified courage and dedication. Following his military tenure, Frank's path led him to Chicago, IL where he raised his family of five children, Arnie, Douglas, Thelma, Raymond, and Crystal with his loving wife Rosie. He reignited his fire for the Lord when he became a Deacon at Proviso Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood, IL.


Once retiring from Chicago Transit Authority and returning to his home state of Alabama, Frank remained a resolute Deacon with unwavering faith, and he became an integral part of Antioch Baptist Church in Hartford and later Sylverine Missionary Baptist Church in Bellwood. He took immense joy in teaching younger men how to serve God through being a Deacon.


Franks legacy of love and care is carried on through his beloved daughter, Crystal King, who was the light of his life. Frank took his roles as a father, grandfather, uncle, Godfather, cousin, and friend very seriously. There are not enough words to express how much Daddy, Grandaddy, Uncle Frank, Cousin Frank, Deacon Anderson will be missed.


During the second half of his life, Frank found love again in Peggy Smith and they united in matrimony. Through this marriage Frank gained another large loving family that includes son, Bradley, and daughter April.


Throughout his life, every day was a great day to fish! Rain, shine, sleet, or snow, there was always a reason to fish. Although fishing was his great joy, Frank's generosity knew no bounds, and those fish fed multitudes. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, and it shone brightly through his every interaction.


Frank's absence will be felt deeply within the community he so cherished. His involvement in the church and his commitment to living a life of service created ripples of positivity that will continue to be felt for generations to come. Frank's example of how to live a faith-filled and generous life serves as an inspiration to all.


As we bid farewell to Frank Jiles Anderson, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. We honor a man who walked this earth with kindness in his heart and faith as his guide. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him to live with the same compassion and generosity that he demonstrated every day.


Frank's journey on earth may have concluded, but the love he shared and the good he accomplished will forever remain. We take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy endures through the lives he touched and the community he helped build.


In remembrance of Frank, let us hold close the memories we shared with him and continue to embody the virtues he valued so dearly. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his story continue to uplift and guide us all.


A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 12:00 pm CST at Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at Sunset Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the celebration at Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan. A graveside burial will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 2pm CST at Oakridge-Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois. The family kindly request, in lieu of flowers donations be made to Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA (Gradyhealthfoundation.org.)
