Frank Lee McCarthy, 72, of Headland died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Crowne Healthcare in Eufaula.
rnServices will be held 2 pm Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Elder Eugene Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. rnMr. McCarthy was born November 28, 1938 in Henry County, AL and lived in the Wiregrass Area all of his life. He was employed in the peanut farming industry for over 50 years primarily with the Hinson Farm in Headland. He was a singer with A.Z. Stanley and the Bibletones for over 20 years and also sang with the Alabama Gospel Singers for 6 years. In his spare time he enjoyed singing and playing his bass guitar for his family and friends. Mr. McCarthy was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mary Dove McCarthy and a son John Kelly. rnSurvivors include his wife Mary McCarthy of Dothan; step-daughters, Joanna Caster of Headland and Elizabeth Dawkins of Dothan; a son Johnny Frank Turner of Headland; one God-son Charles Turner; two God-daughters, Cassandra White and Carolyn Turner; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
