Fred Fellows

Fred Lester Fellows, Jr., 88 passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating.   Burial will follow with military honors in Ashford City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am until 11 am Monday.

Mr. Fellows was born December 11, 1924 in Houston County and he resided all of his life in Ashford.  Mr. Fellows was a World War II veteran having served in the 8th Air Force 32nd bomb group in the European Theater as a radio operator and machine gunner in a B-17 flying fortress.  Following his military service he returned to Ashford and co-founded with his brother General Trailers in Dothan. Mr. Fellows also farmed for more than 60 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt.  Mr. Fellows enjoyed flying and continued that activity until his later years.  He was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Faye W. Fellows.

Survivors include his sons, Fred William Fellows, Matt Fellows and his wife Retta and Mark  & Wendy Fellows; his daughter Deborah Bumpers and her husband Robert; six grandchildren, Candace Bumpers, Brandee Fellows Dupree and her husband Chris, Brandon and his wife, Amberly Fellows, Matthew Fellows, Myles Fellows and Macy Fellows; three great-grandchildren, Seth Martin and his wife Jessica, Stone Dupree and Spencer Dupree; a sister, Edna Fellows Christmas and several nieces and nephews.
