Freddie Paul Shiver, a resident of Gordon, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at a local hospital. He was 64. Funeral services will be held at 5 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-5 pm. Mr. Shiver was born on February 15, 1955 in Hialeah, Florida and lived the early years of his life in Gordon, Alabama. He was a 1973 graduate of Cottonwood High School. Mr. Shiver enjoyed the simple life, he loved hunting, fishing on Lake Seminole and the Chattahoochee River, and spending time with his kids and his grandkids. He loved to plant a garden and to share the vegetables with family and friends. Mr. Shiver also enjoyed horses and showing them. He was employed with AMX Trucking as a diesel mechanic until his retirement in 2013. Survivors include his son, Jason (Kerri) Shiver; his daughter, Christy (Jason) Raley; his grandchildren, Cole Raley, and Avery and Jaylee Shiver; his mother, Katherine Shiver; his sister, Brenda Shiver; his aunts and uncles, Ida Dean (A. Z.) Howell, Buddy Turner, and Shelby Jean; his 2 nephews, Kyle Woodfin and Patrick Woodfin; and several cousins also survive. Serving as active pallbearers will be Patrick Woodfin, Kyle Woodfin, David Gilmore, James Floyd, Roger Burkett, and Danny Durry.
